Video slot machines have a video image rather than actual rotating reels
Video slot machines use the same technology as regular slots but with a video image instead of spinning reels. A video image is generated by photoelectric cells. Light striking the photo diode generates an electrical pulse that is then used to determine the payouts. When a winning combination is made, the image is played into the slot machine and must line up with the pay line to win.
Slot machines have various rules and different types. They can be physical in a gambling hall or virtual on computing hardware. A typical slot machine will have a candle on top of the machine to alert the operator when a winning combination is made.
