In this game, each player is required to have the best five-card hand possible. During the early 20th century, a number of lowball and split-pot poker variants were introduced. These are essentially the same game, but the stud variant has a higher betting limit.
Poker is played in a variety of formats, including on television and over the internet. It can be played with a small number of players, but a maximum of six to eight is recommended.
